Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) will arrange participation of Pakistani firms and exporters at the first ever exhibition on the re-construction of Iraq "Rebuild Iraq 2005," being held at Amman Jordan. According to an official of EPB here on Tuesday, this international exhibition is scheduled from April 4 to 7, 2005 at Man Al Hammam in Jordanian capital. "We are encouraging Pakistani exporters to participate in this exhibition which has been certified by the US Department of Commerce under its Trade Fair Certification Programme," he added.

EPB official said the Pakistan pavilion would be set up at the exhibition to facilitate display of our products at this important event.

He pointed out the EPB would sponsor 70 per cent of space, stall cost and freight of the exhibition products to be shipped for that fair. Cost of three by three meters space was about Rs 50,000, he added and suggested interested parties to send their applications before February 26, 2005 for booking of space at the show.

He said Pakistan could offer health care products, medicines, surgical items, food items, agriculture implements and equipment, educational supplies like books, uniforms and shoes; tents and expertise in the construction of houses and buildings.

It may be noted Pakistan had been supplying food items, pharmaceuticals, furniture and other consumer products to Iraq under "oil for food programme" of the United Nations during Saddam Hussain period, he added.

He pointed out Iraq urgently needed a full range of items, infrastructure, products and services including hospital, medicine, security equipment, road and railways machinery, oil production tools, finance, telecommunication system, agri products, food items, furniture, surgical goods, tents and canvas.

However, he said that chances of Pakistani firms to get orders at that show would depend on the number of participant countries and their quality and prices.

He said it was a rare opportunity for Pakistani exhibitors to showcase their products at the exhibition and get their share in the reconstruction of Iraq and its consumer market.

He pointed out the organisers of the show had ensured maximum participation of qualified Iraqi buyers at the show adding that Pakistani firms could also get sufficient opportunities for sub-contracting basis at the show.
